Access to accurate, consumable workforce analytics empowers managers and executives to make timely, fact-based decisions.
OrgPlus inserts flexible workforce metrics and hierarchy-based analytics into the intuitive visual interface of the org chart in order to weave workforce analytics into the daily routines of managers throughout the organization. Easy to implement, OrgPlus allows managers to access and act on sophisticated workforce analytics with very little training or business intelligence system skills. HR, finance and executive managers benefit through:
- Workforce metrics delivered in organizational charts and kept current by automated data feeds from HCM (Human Capital Management) or ERP systems
- Hierarchy-based metrics and analytics unavailable in source systems
- Easy export to Microsoft Excel for further analysis and reporting
Key Metrics at Your Fingertips
Metrics and key performance indicators are the cornerstone of sound management. However, the sheer volume of data often renders them unmanageable. Spreadsheets and reports are unwieldy and fall short in highlighting key information. OrgPlus visualizes metrics in the org chart - so you see the metrics you need, when you need them. Formats set to change as metrics reflect specific conditions fuel instant understanding and a shift from analysis to action.
Leverage industry best practices with standard metrics, or build your own to reflect your unique organizational agenda. Sample metrics include:
- Simple headcounts including permanent employees, vacancies and contractors are used to analyze workforce dynamics and centers of responsibility
- Spans and levels metrics including counts, totals, averages, minimums and maximums help to analyze the organization and structure it efficiently
- Turnover rates including voluntary and involuntary turnover help to evaluate recruiting and management effectiveness
- Budget metrics such as salary roll-ups, average salaries and budget differentials assist in workforce reporting and planning
- EEOC ratios including counts, percentages, totals and averages provide insight into managing compliance and regulatory issues
- Performance ratings and comparison to averages provides a snapshot of employee potential
The Hierarchy Factor
OrgPlus provides hierarchy-based analytics that are not possible in ERP systems alone. The hierarchical metrics and analytics fall into two categories. First, OrgPlus provides specialized analytics calculated from an individual's reporting structure including Span of Control, Headcount Cost, Cost to Manage and others. Second, OrgPlus can perform calculations based on level. This makes it possible to quickly analyze data across everyone (or groups of people) at a certain level such as all managers, peers, subordinates or co-workers. For example, managers or analysts can quickly compare compensation levels among peers or similar groups across the enterprise.
Hierarchical analytics are critical to identifying problem areas or understanding cost drivers. Additionally, OrgPlus can perform analytics using data from different source systems to paint a clearer picture of organizational dynamics. Examples of hierarchical analytics include:
Headcount – metrics such as full time or part time employees, open positions, contractors, employees on leave of absence, counts of specific roles by function or location
Span of Control – the number of employees reporting to a supervisor
Salary Rollups – analysis of workforce costs by manager, department, function or location
Diversity Ratios – analysis of gender, ethnicity or other factors for a given function, role, location or compensation level
Tenure Averages and Bands – metrics around retention and workforce effectiveness in specific positions
Ad Hoc Group Analysis – metrics to analyze ad hoc groups that are not represented in the formal organizational structure, such as all branch managers or all employees with an advanced degree
The combination of accurate data, best practice metrics and hierarchical analytics facilitates critical analysis and ensures informed workforce decisions.
Provide Inputs to Financial, Strategic Planning
Accurate workforce metrics and analytics are critical ingredients for higher level corporate planning. With OrgPlus, current data at the individual, group, or corporate level can easily be pushed to Excel or other reporting tools for further analysis and inclusion in enterprise strategic planning.
